Blogging

Blogging is an odd thing.  It sorta feels like you're talking to yourself alone in an empty room.  You wonder if anyone is out there.

When I met Karen last weekend, we spoke about how odd it is.  You are alone in front of your computer and have no clue if anyone is out there reading what you are writing.  Do they like you?  Are they interested in what you have to say?  It's like being back in high school again.  You're left alone with all your own insecurities and no one to give you a reality check.

Can I ask you a favor?  If you are out there reading this, let me know.  Just say "hello"  or "good job"  or even "you suck"  something to let me know that I am not alone in a room talking to myself. Cause that means I am crazy.

  2. You may think I'm weird for saying this, but I really enjoy the 'alone time' that blogging gives me. It helps me keep my projects and my thoughts organized, and gives me motivation to take photographs and write about whatever I'm doing. If folks read my drivel, that's great. If they leave a comment or send an email telling me that they read my drivel, that's good too.

  3. I know what you mean - sometimes when I'm writing I feel like a crazy person babbling away. Love reading your blog!

  6. You are so right! It can feel like you're in a vaccum and sometimes you think "why am I spending my time on this?" But then other days you get great feedback and it feels fabulous!

    You have a great blog!

  7. Wow! I'm floored. Thank you so much for stopping to comment.

Karen, I check in with your blog (and I'd like to see you more around campus). I haven't been able to figure out google reader yet. Maybe I'll tackle that this summer.

Heartwood, I don't think that's crazy. It makes perfect sense to me. In the summer, when I have more time, the posts are usually a bit more thought out. I love the idea of using the blog to keep things organized and me motivated.

Angela, glad to know that others feel a bit looney when writing "in the dark" so to speak.

Melanie, thank you so much. I wish I had more progress to post. I envy those people who have more energy and time to work on their homes. Progress isn't fast enough for me.

ErinFromIowa, IOWA? I have a fan/reader from Iowa? Cool! I'll be doing some more gardening this weekend. The last of the planting for the season I think. I'll keep posting updates as things get bigger.

Kendall, a vacuum is exactly what it feels like sometimes. And you're right, today's feedback absolutely made my day.

Thank you to all of you for taking time to comment.

  8. I'm living vicariously through you - blogging and gardening and renovating, none of which I'm doing as I'm in a rental during the week and just want to relax on the weekend. Hope to run into you again soon.

  9. Aw, Linda, I feel for you, I really do. It's got to be stressful running up and down the highway. Let me know if you're up for a dog walk this weekend.
